Multiple Mortgage applications advice for FTB

Morning,
Wondered if anyone could assist.
We have had a mortgage agreed in principle by a whole of market broker. The rate is a bit higher than the high street lenders and myself and fiance have 3 defaults between us, they are around 5 years old.
We have seen a house and put an offer on and are now due to go into the EA as they want to see if they can beat our mortgage offer.
My question is would or could this affect our mortgage that has already been agreed in principle?
Thanks

Possibly. Can't say any more than that, really.
Agent does another credit check and when/if you go back to the first lender the search comes up at full application stage you could be declined.I am a mortgage broker.
