Avon Sales Leader

Hello all
I am seriously considering starting Avon, but would rather be a Sales leader than doing door to door catalogue delivering.
Is it possible to go straight in as a sales leader? Would it be expensive to start up as one? I haven't got much spare cash at all at the moment so if it would be a high start up cost then it'd be out of the question for me.
Thanks in advance

As mentioned above, you will get more replies on the thread. However, I will give you my opinion
I have been doing Avon since October, and basically although you can potentially go straight in as an SL I don't think it's a good idea. It does coat more than being a rep, and you won't know enough about it to advise your team. You will get unscrupulous ASMs or SLs who will encourage you to be an SL as it lines their pockets, but anyone worth their salt will tell you to learn the job first. You can glean information from reading etc, but I really think you need to consider it carefully. How would you feel if the person who signed you up had only just started and couldn't answer questions or give advice?
Take your time deciding who to sign up with as well. A good SL / ASM is essential. HTH :AStill looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0 -
Missminx makes an important point about gaining experience first.
Also, when you're a SL you still need to be working as a rep and bringing in your own sales. To earn commission from your SL work you have to get in orders of £148 or more every campaign (every 3 weeks). Once you're higher up the SL chain your sales have to be higher - I think it's £220.
Fortunately to get your own sales you don't have to go door to door if you don't want to. You can sell to friends, family, anyone really (although you won't be allowed to canvas streets - not a problem if you don't want to do that anyway), at carboots, fetes, advertise on Facebook...I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

People do seem to recruit outside their area. However, you do need to meet with them to see their Identification etc to sign them up, and get their books and starter items to them. If they then change their mind, don't order etc those books etc and the cost of getting them there are lost to you.
If you read the 'proper' avon tips thread, you will see that a fair percentage of sign ups disappear without a word, costing the SL financially. If and when I go ahead, I will be very careful about travelling distance to recruit.
This is just my opinion, and as I said you will get more info from SLs on the thread.Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0 -

Yes, so long as you go to see them face to face for signing them up - we have to check ID. Taking into consideration travel costs, it's better to start fairly close to home, then expand as you can afford it. I've been a rep for 2 and a half years, and a sales leader for 2 years now - it's hard work being a sales leader but it can be worth it - if it wasn't I wouldn't still be doing it around my jobAvon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0
