Ideas for DD 1st birthday party

Hi

I want to organise a party for my daughters 1st birthday in a couple of weeks time.

Please can you give me some ideas. I definately want to spend less than £100. So I'll buy loads of snacks and maybe cook a Chinese, Indian or Mexican meal.

How can I save money on the goody bags (will have approx 15 kids and approx 12 adults) but I want it nice for the kids. I thought I can do a lucky dip, donut eating race etc.

I still haven't got my princess a gift...... Don't know what to get.

She is my first child, so I'm still new to all of this.

Thank u in advance...

    Hi,

I got my daughter a Vtech First Steps pink walker for her first birthday and some Fisher Price Little People toys. She absolutely loves them still at 20 months old. If she is already walking, you could look at a ride on, TKMAXX have Fisher Price ones from around £15 upwards. Or how about a Leapfrog My Pal Scout or Violet. I bought LO the Violet for christmas, only two months after her birthday. This is also still a big hit. Will try and post links.

As for party bags, Early Learning Centre do a range of pocket money toys and I've seen signs a few times saying they are on 342. Also, Tesco, Asda and Wilkinsons do ranges of little party bag items. I was looking yesterday in Wilkinsons and saw little packs of water squirters and butterfly shaoed paper pads with pens, four in a pack for around 90p per pack - ok for slightly older kids. Then for any similar age to your little girl, I gave buggy books that I got two for £1 at The Works book shop, little bags of Milky Buttons that were, I think, six packets in a pack from Poundland and some tubs of Bubbles that were in multipacks from Poundland. For bigger prizes, I got some Grafix games from Poundland.

I also did a treasure hunt based around colours of the rainbow by fixing pieces of different coloured paper around, telling each team to get one of each colour to match a sample attached to a piece of card and the fastest one a bigger prize and all the others got smaller items.

For food, I did a Tikka Masala with rice for the adults then did small cream cheese and also tuna mayo sandwiches cut with animal biscuit cutters for the kids, with plenty of bowls of Quavers, carrot and cucumber sticks. I also made a small steamed vegetable and Heinz baby gravy mashed meal for the smallest ones.

Hope this helps. Have a wonderful day.

Are you sure that all those young children will eat spicy food?
