My deal is a tracker starting with 2.79% (i.e. 2.29% + Barclays Bank Base Rate). Anyway, I am glad that it is now done and am just waiting for a few more bits and pieces before I can exchange.

I noticed that you are also commenting on my chimney breast thread on the other forum. :) That's my main worry now.

Agreed that the deal was pretty good, which is why I put up with paying £1499 for the product fee, an expensive survey and the pain experienced through their mortgage approval process. :)

why was it painful? i heard they are usually quick...

lol, well if it is any consolation my survey report suggested I might budget for a roof replacement (110 yr od house)

Six years on, still here, no leaks, just had a new large velux fitted into a loft room (today!)and can really observe my own roof now for the first time - it;s fine...!

I will have another look at the photos.

They asked for documents every other Friday (instead of all in one go right at the beginning) and you cannot argue with their requests, otherwise it takes weeks to appeal...

    Congratulations on the new velux!

Being a first time buyer, I guess I am just being extra cautious.
