Also anyone tried cancelling the back-order one after the first part of the split delivery has been dispatched - do you still get the discount on the first delivery?

ANY IDEAS WHAT THIS MEANS? Looks like they have split my order up, only given me a £2.65 discount for the book, therefore charging me £3.34 for this and full price for the SD card??

What do you suggest I do?

    Regards

    Tried it, & got this!

    Items Ordered Price
1 of: Pregnancy for Dummies UK Edition [Paperback]
By: Sarah Jarvis (Author), et al
    £8.99

    Sold by: Amazon.co.uk
    - 1 item(s) Gift options: None

    Item(s) Subtotal: £8.99
    Postage & Packing: £0.00
    Promotional Gift Certificate: -£5.25
    Total Before VAT: £3.74
    Total for this Delivery: £3.74

So £3.74 (would have been £6.24 if I'd have kept the book) for a £8.99 book delivered! So it saves another £2.50. The reason it doesn't save the book price of £5.99, is because if they despatched the book they would have applied another £3.49 promotional discount on that part of the order. They split the promotional discount when they split the order.

    Here's the maths

£5.99 is about 40% of the order value, so promotional discount 40% of £8.74 = £3.49
£8.99 is about 60% of the order value, so promotional discount 60% of £8.74 = £5.25

  • My original order said:

    Item(s) Subtotal: £22.99
    Postage & Packing: £0.00
    Promotional Gift Certificate: -£8.74
    Total Before VAT: £14.25
    VAT: £1.84
    Grand Total: £16.09

Not sure how they got to this total in the first place because the order was for a £19.95 toy that was eligible for free delivery anyway and a helmanns book at £5.99 - I didnt realise at the time (it was late and I was tired) that £22.99 is not £19.95 + £5.99 - I was just happy the total was less than the price of the toy iyswim.

Now that my item has been dispatched it is saying:

    Item(s) Subtotal: £17.00
    Postage & Packing: £0.00
    Promotional Gift Certificate: -£6.46
    Total Before VAT: £10.54
    VAT: £1.84
    Total for this Delivery: £12.38

and on the other part of the order (the bit for the book) which is not yet dispatched it says

    Items Ordered Price
1 of: Your Sandwich Made It! [Paperback]
    By: Hellmann's
    £5.99
    Sold by: Amazon.co.uk
    - 1 item(s) Gift options: None

    ***********************************

at the top of the page it still says Order total £16.09

So have I been charged £16.09? or £12.38.... and if I've been charged £12.38 will I then be charged a further £5.99 for the book when it is shipped - because that would mean in total I would have paid more than the £16.09 I originally agreed?

    Confused? you will be...
  • I just cancelled my book.

I ordererd an hp ink for 9.99

    Item(s) Subtotal: £8.50
    Postage & Packing: £0.00
    Promotional Gift Certificate: -£5.13
    Total Before VAT: £3.37
    VAT: £0.59
    Total for this Delivery: £3.96

cancelled the book as the ink has been dispatched.
Had an email to confirm the cancelation , but the invoice hasnt been amended.

    still saying £3.96

email returned to say i had sucessfully cancelled the book ....thats it.

    so i guess its a £3.96 ink
  • Yup

I called amazon and asked and the lady said each item was billed to your card seperately so if I cancelled it would just not bill me for the 2nd item. She confirmed my card had only been billed for £12.38 so far. She looked up the Hellmans book and said no way are you getting it for Xmas why don't you just download the PDF and cancel your order.

Cancelled my order and ended up with my £19.95 toy costing me £12.38 and its gone up today so even more of a bargain.

She did also say however that although it was posted today I probably wouldn't get it for Xmas so if it was something I needed I should buy it elsewhere and refuse delivery of their package if it arrived to late (I don't think so! not at that price - the full price item is £29.99 at Argos).
  • If everyone starts cancelling the book there will be more in stock - wonder if that means the codes will start working again?
