Haven't got item yet

I haven't got my item yet, it was posted Mon 13th 1st class recorded.

I have the tracking # & it just confirms when it was posted & says its being processed.

Contacted seller who told me it can still say this even when its been delivered & have I been home the whole time/had a red card to pick it up.

Well I work Mon - Fri so no I've not been home & I know exactly what a red card from royal mail means, I wouldn't ignore it.

They told me they will put a claim into royal mail once 15 days has passed.

Will I ever know where my item is/is it likely to just 1 day turn up?

Even tracked goods go astray - Recorded doesn't provide any other insurance.

You can open an INR claim if it doesn't turn up and seller will have to refund as it has not been shown to be delivered.

You should not have to wait for the outcome of their claim. Ideally they should maybe ask you to wait a bit longer but should promise you that if it doesn't turn up then they will refund and then any claim is up to them.

If it was posted on Monday, then it's only been 4 working days, so a little early to start wondering where it's got to!

I'd give it until next Tuesday, and then open a dispute.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I'd open a dispute now in Paypal as they are obviously not willing to refund untill they have put a RM claim in. A RM claim isnt your problem they need to get the item to you or refund.

  • I've simply just been keeping the seller informed, not once saying I want a refund or anything, it was the seller who mentioned refunding etc.

    Never had anything not arrive.

Ignore people like Oliver14, who should be banned from ebay. DON'T put a claim in yet (ebay wont allow you to (for a reason - its too soon) and going round them to paypal is a loophole waiting to be closed)!!! Sellers are only allowed 1 claim in 100 transactions before being punished and its more serious than neg feedback. Being punished for Royal Mail delays is not on. You have the tracking ref and know its been posted - what do you want - BLOOD?

In my ebay - click on 'view order details' - that will tell you when it should arrive. What does it say?

Once that time as passed THEN you ask seller what he intends to do. If he offers a refund, fine - if not - you have a right to open a claim.

Techspec, the reason most o us would go for an earlier than usual claim on this one is because of this line "They told me they will put a claim into royal mail once 15 days has passed." that rather suggests seller is expecting buyer to wait that long.

OP wait a full 7 days from payment and then open a paypal basic dialogue, NOT an ebay claim nor a paypal claim, just a dialogue. Once again tell the bueyr that item has failed to arrive. If at that point they give any indication that their RM claim is anything to do with you, then escalate the paypal dialogue to a full chargeback for INR.

techspec, that still gives the seller 10 days to have the online tracking show as delivered. In total that allows a seller 17 days , which I consider ample for anyone. I would only go to a claim this early if I suspect a seller may be less than helpful.

    totally agree

As always a good balance between rushing to open a claim straight away, and allowing sellers to take the mickey... :)
  • Still not arrived + checked on Sat at my local collection centre incase it was sat on a shelf waiting to be picked up as had it happen twice before with not getting a red card to collect items & they've been at the centre.

    But no luck, no item.

Have contacted seller again who replied with:

IF NOT RETURNED TO ME WITHIN 2 WEEKS - PRESUME LOST AND I WILL CLAIM AND REFUND WHEN THEY TELL ME IT IS LOST AND NOT BEEN SIGNED FOR SO JUST AS SOON AS I CAN - NOT MY FAULT EITHER BUT WILL DO ALL I CAN BUT CANNOT CLAIM UNTIL 15 DAYS.IS THERE A LOCAL P.O IT COULD HAVE BEEN LEFT AT AS OURS ARE LEFT LOCAL RATHER THAN THE MAIN ONE IN THE TOWN

Don't know why its all in caps, can only assume they're annoyed at me. But my contac has been polite, just informing them of what I have done to try & find it + asking what to do next etc.

AS per posts above, slam in a full paypal chargeback now. Do not get diverted back to ebay to make the claim, read all the screens before you proceed and stick with the paypal one.

So I should be banned for believing sellers should know there responsibilies. Thats Hilarious. As soon as a sellers starts playing silly buggers they lose any leeway and should be treated with caution. The reason I said to open a dispute as soon as possible was for the reasons others have stated. Following on it seems my reasons were fully justified.

I know you see buyers as an inconvenience but even you with your blinkers on must be able to tell the warning signs of a dodgy clueless seller.

I'll repeat what I have asked you before why do you sell on ebay if buyers are such an inconvernienc

The OP doesnt want blood just a reasonable seller who doesnt when asked about an item start with excuses about why they will not be able to refund untill after a RM claim. The reason for starting a claim early is to make sure you get your refund within a reasonable period as a Paypal claim takes 10 days. If the seller acted responsibly things like this wouldn't happen.
