Ideas for 70th wedding anniversary present and party

This seemed like the best place to ask for help! DH's grandparents will be celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary in August. They are 90 and 88. For obvious reasons, very few couples reach this milestone and there's very little in the shops. If possible I would like to make something for them, but at the same time DH's side of the family wouldn't want anything too 'homemade'. For his grandfather's 90th I got a personalised card with a coin from the year of his birth on, which went down very well but I can't really do it again. For the party they will only want close family - sadly most of their friends have now died - but I would like to make it extra special somehow. They have pretty much everything they want, they don't like to go out as they are a little frail, DH's grandfather's eyesight is going so can't read, and he's diabetic so no sweets, but in denial so no pretend sweets! They have recently decluttered so no ornaments.
I am drawing a blank on ideas so any would be much appreciated.

Do they have a garden?
There are lots of special anniversary roses, not sure if there is a specific one for 70th wedding anniversary (as I have never had to buy one!) but it would be worth asking at your local garden centre. Even if they do not do a 70th one they do more general anniversary ones called things such as 'happy anniversary'.
You could then plant it for them and it would be a lovely thing for them to look at and would not need much looking after at all.0 -
do you live nearby, could you give them a box of vouchers for things that could be a problem for them, At their age (and I am not too far away)I would like to be able to say "Here you come and change this light bulb" or "Just look at the weeds in that plot) without sounding like I am old and needy.
Maybe not flash and "wow look what I got them" but I am sure that it would be a gift that would be so well recieved.0 -
They only have a tiny balcony. Not sure if they could grow a rose there, shame as its a lovely idea.Do they have a garden?

We live about 40 minutes away, so close enough so we see them fairly regularly but not so close we can just pop round. They are very proud of their independence and at the moment don't need someone to change lightbulbs etc but I'll try to figure a way this idea could work, thankyou.0
