puttin up a lcd tv above a fire

hiyas weve got a sony 32 inch lcd tv that were wanting to put on the wall above a gas fire that has a fireplace/mantle. has anyone done this pls , the engineer we contacted about puttin the tv on the wall (we neeed a professional to do it bcos its goin onto plasterboard) sed our guarantee with sony would be invalid cos they recomend not putin them above fires. but hed seen loads of people that had done it with no probs

They get hot enough on their own. You risk reduced service life, and cosmetic damage.0 -
fraid not, rooms quite small and a weird shape, its either above the fire or on a stand rather than the wall
