CC question

This might sound stupid but bear with me!!

I have a CC which is 0% on BTs until Dec 07 and 0% on purchases until March 07. I have transfered my old CC balance onto it. If I use it to buy something for £100 say, and pay off £100 when I get my statement in 30 days time ish, will it come off the purchases or the BT?! Does that make any sense!!

  • Hi - I'm pretty sure they take it from the BT first. More interest for them that way

Everycard, bar nationwide i beleive will credit it to the lowest interest rate first. As you have 0% on both Balance Transfers and Purchases at the moment I would think that it would be split evenly. I suppose they could be sneaky and pay all payments off the transfer given that the promotions rate on purchases drops off sooner, so come march you would start paying interest.

without you posting the full T&Cs its not really possible to say but don't do it..
it's likely that the BT will be paid off first so you will end up paying interest on the purchases after the 3 months and until you have have cleared the entire balance

    don't do it.
  • couldnt you buy the item on your old credit card and then tranfer the baalance to your new 0% credit card??

still owe the student loans ha ha :p
  • Check the payment terms on the back of your cc statement or on the terms& conditions leaflet you received when you opened the account. If you can't find either of these phone the cc company.

However I think it is almost certain that the payment will come off the BT and not off the purchase so after March you will start paying interest unless you clear the whole balance. This is why companies do these kind of offers - to make money out of us
