How on earth can I get a loan ...

Options
ok so heres the deal,

am living the in the UK just over a year now, I have one default on my credit file which I am about to dispute ( as I never got a warning .. just a letter from the debt collectors.. stupi people ! anyway that was all paid ) .. that was in June.

I have also open up my bank accounts, credit card etc etc meaning I have searches on my account also ( some I was declined ) , and have moved house... all meaning my credit score is a nightmare and seemingly the bank dont cant to give me a car loan even though my wages each month go directly into it.. and I get a decent wage.

Can anyone give any advice to me about how on earth to get a loan / hire purchase etc etc .. as i REALLY want to get a car.

I can afford about £200ish a month to payback on a loan, and I have seen the adverts for " no matter your credit history " etc etc .. but have heard scary things about these kinda places.

So basically, appauling credit score ( which I am trying to build but not that easy when your a tenant and not at one addy for 3 years ! ) ..... self employed, but with regular income as am on a regular contract for the place am with and have been for over a year.

Any advice anyone might have would be great

Damn computers running banks.. bring bank the good ole days of knowing their customers !!!!!

Paddy

( ps the car I want to buy in a Pug 206 ... second hand )

you have only been in the country a year you have already moved twice and already defaulted on a credit card - I wouldnt give you a loan and i think you would be hard pushed to find anyone that would.

cant you just save up for it- if you have a good wage and no other debts, then maybe this is a good plan ?Much cheaper to do it this way too.

I agree with other poster, I think most high st banks would decline you. You can alsways go with a non high st lender, but I wouldnt touch these with a bargepole TBH.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

hello sorry, maybe I did not make myself clear !!

    1) I have been living int he country for over a year, however my 12 month lease has ended in the place I was living thus meaning I am moving closer to the town that I live in, hence the move of address

    2) I have not defaulted on ANY credit card. I have never had a late payment on any credit card, household bill or my current mobile phone which I have almost 9 months. The default was from mobile phone company " three " who did not contact me in relation to an outstanding amount when I thought the account was closed they passed it directly to a debt collector.

    3) I am on the electoral roll also

    cheers,

    Paddy
  • Get yourself a secured personal loan if at all possible. Secured personal loans will first, allow you to secure a higher pound amount on your personal loan, second, allow you to secure a lower personal loan rate, and third, give you a greater incentive to pay back your personal loan regularly as your home may be at risk if you were to default on your personal secured loan.

save up, you can get a crappy car with 6 months tax & mot for about £500 if you look about. (check out adverts in your local supermarket).

keep it for 6 months & you should have saved £1200, allowing you to buy a better car when the tax & mot run out...
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.
  • If you want a Pug 206 you can get older ones for around £2k and if you're self employed with a secure contract hopefully it wouldn't take that long to save up?
