Money for survey taken, booked for Monday, good sign?

Hi,
I know they can still turn you down for a mortgage even if the survey is fine, but does the fact Halifax have taken the money and booked it for Monday mean anything?
I.E Is it a good sign? Or just not a bad sign?
They received all of our documents yesterday, like P60 etc etc, underwriter knew they would be in and that we need to complete by end of June.
Is it just coincidence that the fee was taken and survey booked the day after all documents were sent? Or could it mean they are likely to lend to us, assuming the survey goes well?
Wouldn't make sense to book it otherwise surely?
Hoping this is a good sign, but will be doubly gutted if we lose our £315 and get no mortgage due to other reasons. Hoping I can take it as a good sign.
Could be they haven't even looked over the documentation yet though and have just booked it to ensure no delays ahead of time
I know nobody can say for sure, guess i'm just looking for a place to vent my nerves as really really want this!

You can tell the lender to not instruct survey/go to survey, until the mortgage has been agreed (subject to valutaion) - this will avoid losing your survey fee if the mge fails underwriting.
If you are nervous, give them a ring and cancel the survey until you know that you have met the lenders criteria and have your mge in place.
Hope this helps

On my cases, I tell Halifax not to go to valuation until they are happy with the case and the offer is simply subject to the valuer's report. I know I can't stop an audit coming later, but it's the best I can do to limit my clients' potentially wasted expenditure.I am a mortgage broker. We've just got our mortgage offer from the Halifax, 4 weeks after the survey. We applied 6 weeks ago and sent everything our mortgage broker asked for straight away. For the first three weeks the Halifax said they had all the documents they needed then suddenly they asked for a second lot of proof of ID - despite me having my current account with them showing my salary, all bills, etc.! Then it took them a week to process a utility bill we sent as proof of address!
I hate to rain on your parade, but I'd advise you to be constantly chasing up your application if you want to complete by the end of the month!
Good luck!0 -

Thanks for sharing your experiences.
We had DIP last Friday and had already sent over some documentation to our mortgage advisor. He put the full application in on Monday, they looked at what he had sent and asked to also send 3 months bank statements and P60's.
Plus I start a new job tomorrow (Told them at DIP and full app so they were aware) and also just needed some writen confirmation from my new employer.
We got all that to them yesterday due to having to wait for my P60 to be done.
Our mortgage advisor is taking care of pushing them to do it as soon as possible. So far they have managed to get quick turnaround from the Halifax so I think we will be OK, though can never be sure.
When the Halifax asked for a reference from my new employer, the advisor asked us for contact details and within 15 mins of me sending it the HR dept. at new job had the forms on their desk via Fax.
So I just have to keep the faith in them I guess. They know we need to complete by end of June or we will be pulling out even if it does mean losing some legal fees, which aren't really an issue.
I do admit i'm always dubious when it comes to humans needing to actually communicate under strict time constraints. Poor communication seems to cause most problems in this life! Hopefully we won't fall victim to it on this occasion.0 -
we found with ours they didnt want to take the product fee/survey fee till they were relatively happy to avoid the agro of trying to sort out a refund (which technically isnt allowed)0

I applied for a Halifax product on Monday evening, the lady on phone wanted to take money for survey straight away but I requested to wait till everything else is checked from their end. Fax my documents in yesterday. Halifax called today to say everything is sorted just the survey and took the money. They assured it should all be done by Tuesday [Friday today and all that] and I should receive a formal confirmation by Wednesday. So far they have been really good with time etc., fingers crossed.Nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. - Alex Supertramp0

Glad you've had good turn around times with the Halifax too.
We are hoping to hear Monday earliest, but most likely Tuesday/Weds.
If everything else is fine and they are just waiting for the survey results then I think Mon/Tues is realistic.
Will phone the mortgage advisor if I don't hear by 4pm on Monday to try and get an update.
Post here when you hear back from Halifax. Hopefully we both end up with the mortgages we need :T0 -
Got final offer letter this morning in post. A copy has been sent to solicitor's too. Looks like all done from Halifax's end, I have now given some money to conveyancer to start doing their bit. Inching towards first home :-)Nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. - Alex Supertramp0
