I signed on on Wednesday and I am worried as to when I will receive my giro (i am in the process of opening a bank account) as I really need it by Monday. Thanks

I would give them a call and ask, I saw people in my local job centre the other day collecting theirs from the job centre. The number is 0845 608 8525

If this is a new claim it would be quite unlikely for you to receive any money in less than a week.

No my claim was made around 3 weeks ago, it has been processed and I was due my first payment on Monday but as I haven't currently got a bank account open I am being paid by giro, I was just wondering if anybody actually knew when you received not people just speculating. Thanks

If you sign on a Wednesay it should be with you in 3 working days - so Monday. If it doesn't arrive you can chase it on the Monday and ask for an emergency payment. If they agree to this they'll issue a counter payment for you to collect at a Jobcentre.
