The Guardian - FREE History of Modern Music Guide 7/7

Celebrating a history of modern music across seven genres.

It's a story that starts with Frank Sinatra and ends with Lady Gaga - and takes in everyone from Cliff and the Beatles, to Adam Ant, Wham!, Take That and Dizzee Rascal along the way.

Over the next week, we'll be celebrating 7 genres: rock, pop, hip-hop, R&B, indie, dance, world and folk and jazz. For each one, we have chosen 50 key historical moments, whether that means the sublime or the ridiculous - or as is often the case, the sublimely ridiculous.

    [STRIKE]Saturday 11th - Pop
    Sunday 12th - Rock
    Monday 13th - Hip Hop & R&B
    Tuesday 14th - Indie
    Wednesday 15th - Dance
    Thursday 16th - World & Folk[/STRIKE]
    Friday 17th - Jazz

In the last week, we've also been busy building a Guardian music Spotify account - so check it out and listen to our ultimate playlists for each of the genres. We've set up collaborative ones too - so feel free to add your own tracks.

Win tickets to the Main Square festival in France

Don't forget you can win tickets to see Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian, Coldplay and more live at the Main Square festival in France - just enter your details and we'll let you know if you've won 1 of 5 pairs. We'll also sort your travel with Eurostar too!
