Sorry if this is in the wrong place but just received my P45 from previous employer.
Does total pay to date mean sum of all employment from last full tax year or just my last employer?
What does the 'total pay to date' figure actually represent?
Thanks as usual

P45 is total pay that they are aware of in the tax year in which the P45 was issued.
So if you had worked for Company A in April 2011, left and joined Company B in May 2011 and presented them with a P45 from Company A, your P45 issued in June 2011 would include your earnings from Company A.
If you had ceased working for Company A in February 2011 then a P45 issued since April 2011 would not include any of the earnings with A, only those with B.0
