Its cracked and now there's an infection...how do I get an implant? How much is it? I went years with this phobia about dentists which I finally got over because I was in SO much pain with this stupid infection :((

I'm on amoxiciilin for the infection for the past week and just taking ibuprofen sometimes if it gets painful

Also, I dont get any help with dental stuff. Is it best for me to join HSA through work?

Implants are not suitable for everyone (eg if you smoke much more likely to fail, you need sufficient bone, they are not so successful on people who grind their teeth).

Ask your dentist if you might be suitable (they need alot of care and can be lost if not cleaned properly) and who they refer to.

They are expensive around £2000 a tooth, and take quite a few months to sort out.

If you've had the pain from an abcess having a tooth out will be an utter relief, you'll be fine.

I had a tooth out due to an abcess as well and I agree with Brook2jack, it's sweet relief to get it over with!

The dentist will push the tooth rather than pull on it and they will anaesthetise you quite heavily so you won't feel any pain although you will feel pressure. They'll give you several jabs but as the drug starts working pretty much straight away, you should only feel the first one. And if you are in any pain don't suffer in silence, they may be able to give you more anaesthetic.

The only bit that is scary is the noise it makes but some dentists will let you use an MP3 player so take one with you or earplugs might help.

You'll be fine tomorrow and out of pain!
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

Had a tooth out last week which was hanging on by it's last legs. Unfortunately as there was an infection it's wasn't completely numbed first attempt but once it was I never felt the going of it

Minimal bleeding and now I'm looking to get a new false one added to the partial plate I have

    Has your dentist advised implants?

i also had a tooth pulled a couple of weeks ago because it had cracked and there was an infection present and i was in complete agony with it. you are given local anasthetic and so you dont really feel any pain, just some pressure and it came out pretty quickly too. a bit of bleeding then it healed up and have absoloutly no problems now. it is at the back so am not considering getting to get anthing artificial to replace it. i think it cost about £47 to have removed.

I just had 2 removed for £16.72 :) AWESOME!! It didnt hurt, it was just uncomfortable and like...the numbing stuff helped. Apparently I can claim back on a HC1 thing because I only work part time or something so thats good :)

I had one removed under similar circumstances - infected broken tooth under a loose crown - which cost £42 a couple of years ago. That invluded several visits and prescriptions as the dentist was trying to avoid extraction.

Believe me, it was a total relief when it was removed. Not nice having an injection, but the actual removal didn't hurt. I would think your tooth should come out easier than mine as my dentist only had a small bit of tooth to work with.
