Fashion Disaster - Frumpiness ALERT

As title, states I'm having a total breakdown, so here's where you kind MSE members come in for advice...
Firstly just to add, Shanelle is currently on holiday so I have her account on a loan with permission of course for this week. My name's Nicole...
Meeting up with some friends a rare occasion as we never seem to have the time to all meet up together. All slim females might I add, so it doesn't look at all good for the frumpy uncurvy size 12 in tow!
Deciding to ditch the glasses for once, and wear contacts but all I can see in the mirror are tiny sized eyes in the midst of a HUGE wobbly face....
Some makeup tips to make eyes look bigger would do here......
Also.... Haven't really decided on a main colour for my clothes yet, so does anyone know of a colour which can make me look slimmer I'm not hoping for wonder results but a type of lean look :o I was thinking pink but I definitely don't want too look even BIGGER!
P.s I have olivey coloured skin if that helps.....
Ooops forgot to add about my yucky skin type, I always seem to get littlev spots on my forehead etc .... anyone know for a way round this such as a skin regime or foundation?

Thanks:)

    Hi Nicole,

Just seen that you haven't had any responses yet so I'll have a go at helping you... :)

Firstly, size 12 is not fat and I think you are putting yourself down too much. Remember, confidence is key - if you think you look good, you will look good.

I wear contacts and glasses and much prefer my contact for going out. I think that for bigger looking eyes you should avoid dark eye-make up and try some light colours - maybe a pale lilac or silvery colour? Some highlighter in the corner and underneath will help them look more open. Also avoid putting eyeliner on the top and bottom of your eyes as I find that if I do the bottom line as well, my eyes look smaller. If you're not good at eye make-up (like me!) have a look on You Tube for some tutorials. Search for 'big eyes look' or something like that - they seem to have videos for every conceivable look on there!

I'm not sure about slimming colours other than black but I read somewhere recently that if you wear them the right way, horizontal stripes can be slimming (who knew?)

I am a pear-shape and try to dress to flatter my figure. A-line skirts look better on me than pencil ones and heels add the illusion of height and make your legs look slimmer. Might not be practical if you are doing a lot of walking though!

Have a look at this website here, might be useful:

Find a part of your body that you like and find an item of clothing that accentuates it. Focus more on the positive than the negative. Get yourself a nice hair cut as well, as this will make you feel confident.

Don't forget your posture - you can take pounds off your body by carrying yourself in the right way. Don't slouch - shoulders back, stomach in, etc. Try it in the mirror - it does work!

Hope all this has helped - I often have the same thoughts as you before going out with friends so I've just given you the advice that I try to give myself when the negativity sets in.

    Enjoy your meet-up! :)
