Hi all
Not a special offer as such , just darned good value.
I have had a 1 4 all universal remote before and it was crap - only an absolute minimum of functions worked. As a consequence I have been a bit wary of getting another universal remote.
So I saw the ones that ALDI currently have in stock for a bargain £6.99 and thought what the heck I'll get one - at that price if it's no good I'll give it away on freecycle.
Hey guys n girls - it's pretty decent.
As the title suggests it can control up to 8 devices. It looks rather nice - black & silver.
It is quite well designed.
It has loads and loads of brands pre-programmed and also has a learn function that lets it learn a function from an existing remote and lets you assign said function to any button you like.
It also has a macro setting that allows you to set up to 3 macros - a string of several actions set to one key - for e.g. I have set one macro to: Switch on my TV, switch to My freeview box, switch that on and display the EPG (Oh yes the unit also has an EPG button).
It has a joystick type thing in the middle to select options and either side of this large panels to increase/decrease volume and go up/down channels.
It has a two line LCD display with a rather nice blue back light (which can also be configured to stay on for different durations).
All in all a rather good unit that works extremely well and unlike the 1 4 all one I still have somewhere brings across many of the functions of the original.
I highly recommend it.
Oh ALDI also have some quite nice Christmas cards at £0.99 for 20.

Yes, I agree - bought one a when they first came out a few weeks ago and it's a really good product for the price. I bought it for 14yo ds who programmed it in within seconds with no bother and it looks great. Still some in store at the mo if anyone requires a new remote for Christmas TV!!0

Would this kind of remote be able to replace a lost SKY remote?
or will i have to fork put for the sky's own brand one:sad:0 -
Oooh good question - cant say for sure.
However have just gone through as though setting up another device and SKY and SKY+ are amongst the barnds in the list - so I think there's a pretty good chance.Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

Hi.
Do you know if this type of remote will work on a TV/video combi as all of the cheaper types I have bought won't operate on the two that I have.
Also I haven't been able to find one that will tune in a TV do you if this one can.
Thank you.0 -

Great find Judder, just bought one today after seeing your post and well impressed!
Got mine from new Aldi in Manchester City Centre and was advertised and went through till at £5.99.
It wouldnt auto program my Humax PVR though but only took 15mins or so to program it manually.
Thanks for posting it, Ive tried thanking you with the button but it aint working for me-I'll try again later!0 -

poundland sell basic 8in1s for £1!
lidl had a really good one a few months ago at £2.99, could even be the same one - had them in silver and black... blue lit lcd screen, no codes needed to programme, just point your current remote to it and it will programme itself!
works with pace freeview and ntl boxes, so will prob work with sky too...0
