Argos debt passed to Moorcroft

Received a letter today stating "We are agents of Argos LTD, and work with them to collect payment against uncleared accounts"
I have been paying Argos through payplan for the last couple of years, and wonder what my response should be to Moorcroft, it also states that "As we have had to resort to sending this letter and as per the terms and conditions of your agreement, our client have (sic) instructed us to add £12 to the above balance"
Thanks

A standard debt collection letter.
I would tell payplan, and forward the details to them if they want them.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks, i thought things were going so well, over 2 years into my DMP, and all i get is statements, increasing the monthly payments at each review (last one increased by £100 a month) still it was to expected at some time i suppose.Thankyou Sir Alex for 26 years0

Received another letter today, saying they acknowledge receipt of my £5 payment, but i still need to contact them, followed by the usual threats of possible this, or we may do that etc etc, i have no intention of contacting them, and will continue to deal with the debt through payplan, but i was wondering about the significance of the ( alleged) £5 payment, i have made no payment to them, nor do i intend to at this stage, can anybody shed some light on this please?Thankyou Sir Alex for 26 years0

Possibly a mistake from them?
Or perhaps a sneaky attempt to get you to contact them? i.e. you say "What £5 payment?"
Either way, if Argos are being paid via PayPlan you should just continue with that.
If you get any hassle, then you can remind them that they are breaking OFT guidelines.

PayPlan are your appointed representatives, and as such, Argos/Moroncroft should not be bypassing them and contacting you directly.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Send this to Moorcroft
As I have had to resort to contacting Payplan as per my terms and conditions I have added £25 to my account and shall deduct from any future payments.I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

Follow up, have now started receiving phone calls from MDR, i have yet to answer when they call, other family members have done so, ( not avoiding the calls, just not been in), now my question is, that now that my payplan account shows the creditor as MDR, are they breaking OFT guidelines by contacting me directly.

If they have been notified of the DMP by Payplan, and given a copy of your authority for them to act on your behalf, then yes, they are.
Check with PayPlan to see if they have contacted Moroncroft yet.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
