Why I'm giving up Tesco Clubcard Points

Hi,
After years of being an avid collector of Tesco points using all the scemes mentioned in this forum I've decided to give it up. The reason is that (IMHO) retailers that offer loyalty schemes generally do so because they're more expensive that others. So Tesco and Boots do but Asda, Lidl, Aldi and Superdrug do not.
I know it's possible to get some great deals using the points but it takes time and effort. I can get a better return doing other things (overtime, stoozing etc.).
The other reason is that - although the return using the Clubcard rewards page is alledgedly 3 times the value of the points - in reality I end up getting things I never normally would consider buying.
Good luck to all fellow points collectors but I just thought I'd share my (perhaps lack of) experience with y'all.

can i correct you please? superdrug DO have a loyalty card
http://www.superdrug.com/beautycard/introducing-the-superdrug-beautycard-your-new-shopping-essential/page/beautycard/life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.0 -
But superdrug aint raising prices to go with theirs.
so still cheaper than competitor boots & you get points. :P0 -
I gave up Tesco too. I've been shopping in Lidl/Aldi and I think its much cheaper. I tend to buy 'basics' only as I cook every day.
It suits me & our circumstances and I don't miss the points. If I want something 'exotic' I pop to my local Co-Op or Morrisons.
If you have a family and you are saving for a holiday or something then fair enough, but for two of us this works out much better.0 -
I've only ever collected Nectar points because my nearest supermarket was Sainsbury's - I've never been a Tesco shopper, I just don't like Tesco and never have.
Since moving somewhere with an Asda close by, our weekly shop has been about £20 cheaper - saving much more than I ever got back from saving Nectar points. There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
we only have a tesco lidl and iceland, i pick and choose and clubcard points make no diference to me, i only shop in boots for offers or medicines anyway, saying that my tesco points got me (and my inlaws) 2 for 1 diningcards this year ours has already saved us some money and will definatly save us pennies over this next yearDEC GC £463.67/£450
EF- £110/COLOR]/£10000 -
I've been saying this for years. Instead of saving up those stupid points just go to a cheaper supermarket. We ditched Tescos and go to Asda now and it's noticably cheaper.0

I shop at Tesco because it is the cheapest and nearest place for me. I call in when passing and try and time my return journeys to get there between 7 and 8 o clock, to get the reduced prices. My weekly shop last week was £9. I dont shop there specifically for the points, and only check mine three times a year. They are a bonus, and don't tempt me to buy anything I don't need. I get most of my points from using their credit card, and use them to treat myself.
I have studied prices in other supermarkets but usually come out without buying anything, they are not cheap enough for me. I don't have any other loyalty cards, even Boots special offers are too dear for me. If people don't agree with me then we must be buying different products.
IlonaI love skip diving.
