you tick the box saying that you do NOT wish to receive further information from the manufacturer?
Please let me know what you think? I like to do the online comps but wonder if I am reducing my chances of winning by doing this? I don't want to get a load of sales stuff that I don't need!

I've built a few of these type of competitions, and no client of mine would ever suggest doing something like that. Nor would I go along with it. I suspect that's the standard attitude in marketing depts. The money involved prize-wise is usually insiginificant compared with their yearly budget and certainly not worth breaking the law (and losing your job) for.

if it helps allay your fears a little..i have personally won quite a few things whilst opting out of receiving further information and i believe the vast idf not all reputable companies running competitions adhere to the rules laid down. same applies to when it says ''no purchase necessary''... you stand and equal chance of winning, purchase or not...Lots of good luck to you:beer:

Has anyone else found that since doing competitions you get lots of junk mail? Ive had loads from a company saying tick here to recieve you free whatever it is. plus i dont want to unsubscribe to any incase ive done a competition with them that hasnt closed. plus i always tick the boxes not to recieve there mail? What does everone else doing the comps do? nowadays it takes forever when i recieve my mail for it all to come through

I started a thread on this about a year ago and it was decided that it didn't make any difference what boxes you ticked at the bottom of comps. They all go in the same 'hat' in the end. I never tick the box for further info and I think it's OK to say I've won a fair few comps.

I use spamgourmet for all my competitions. I haven't won anything yet, but I also haven't been entering for very long.

i`ve done loads of comps but allways tick the no contact etc and hardly ever get mail (only twice i think) and one phone call from a mobile phone company nothing else:beer:

I usually DO tick for more info or newsletters. Spam doesn't bother me as I have a separate email address for entering comps and sending for freebies:)
