Important help needed re: P60

Hi,

Hoping somebody can give me some solid advice about my P60.

To keep it short I need my P60 for a mortgage application. Realised I haven't got it and went to speak to HR.

I explained I need it quickly, we need to complete by end of June, they said they haven't gone out yet but will by the end of the week.

Questions...

1. Are they legally entitled to issue it to me before a certain date, say by 1st June?

2. Realistically could they get them out to us by tomorrow?

If legally I should have had it by a certain date can somebody indicate which law says that, so I can quote it to them and try to get things done quicker.

If I didn't need it ASAP for this application I wouldn't be bothered, but it's the last piece we need to get a full decision as the survey is happening today.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

HMRC say the deadline for getting P60 forms to employees for 2010-11 was 31 May 2011

Do you have your payslip for the last payment you received on or before 5 April? Will that not show the same total figure for income?

Realistically they should have been able to get them to you by 31 May (they have to provide year end details to HMRC before that) so there is no legitimate reason why they cannot provide your P60 today.

Thanks, I don't suppose this is on their website somewhere so I can try and use it to get them to speed things up? I'll have a look when I'm at a PC but on my Blackberry now, if anybody could post a link that would be fantastic.

Is it something they could be fined for or anything? It's a Law firm so you'd expect the HR there to be extra strict on things. They have sent them out to all legal staff I was told, but not to the management teams (so people like Information Systems department)

They should have sent it to you by 31 May, as above, but I'm not sure that there's much you can do about it. Is it worth upsetting your employer over? If it's going to lose you the mortgage though, can you go over to HR and just insist they do it there and then (nicely). It's a lot harder to say no to someone who is right in front of you than over the phone.

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.

I went to see them in person again first thing this morning, and just insisted they try their best to get me mine today, which they have agreed to do.

I did mention i'd read that the deadline was supposed to be 31st May, and stressed that normally I really wouldn't be bothered if it was late, just that we need it for this application.

Hopefully i'll have it some time today as promised. I wouldn't ever actually want to report them (if I could I wouldn't).

I hate to be a pain, and i'm sure they have LOTS to be getting on with other than this, i'm starting with a new employer next week and i've had to ask them for a few things and they've been extemely accomodating which is nice :-)

Should have everything over that's outstanding today, and hopefully get a decision early next week.
