Strike Action - What's the impact on flying?

I am due to fly on the 1st July (one day after the strikes), however I am wondering what sort of impact these are going to have on the airports. From my perspective, I am hoping it won't create a big backlog resulting in issues the next day. Hopefully people flying on the 30th June won't be impacted too badly.

Any news is appreciated.

Are any airport/airline workers due to strike? From what I have seen of the 30th June planned strikes, it is Teachers and Public Sector/Civil Servants.

Don't think there are many civil servants working at airports. Only ones I can think of are HMRC and the Border Agency. Now if they did strike it would obviously have some sort of affect inbound flights but outbound should be able to go.

I've not seen anything saying this action will affect airports and airlines though?

According to the BBC Border & Immigration and Customs staff will be amongst those on strike.

"General secretary Mark Serwotka said every person in the country would feel the effects of the strikes - and the month-long overtime ban that will follow.
"Schools will be shut, jobcentres will be closed, driving licences wont be issued, queues will form at ports and airports," he said."
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

The only real problem would be if immigration (UKBA) went on strike, however the majority of union members of immigration are members of the ISU who are'nt striking that day

UK ATC staff work for NATS, which although is 49% government owned, the staff are not civil servants/public sector. UK ATC staff are not currently involved in any talk of industrial action.

While some NATS staff may be PCS union members, this current ballot is not affecting ATC.

I'm flying on the 30th June from Liverpool to Majorca, been watching the news most of the day, getting very concerned about my chance of getting away on holiday

according to what i've read the air traffic control centre is partially privatised, is anyone able to throw any more light on how badly affected things may be on the day?

I am returning from holiday on the 30th and would like to thank the posters on here for putting my mind at ease.
Have booked low cost airline and you know how they cancel flights at any hint of trouble.:(
Hope everyone travelling on that day has a stress-free journey.
