Hi quick question for those in the know.
I have a joint IVA with my husband, and his pay dates are about to change, he's getting paid early this month due to Xmas, and we usually pay the IVA on the 1st of each month so it would be due out next on the 1st of Jan. He used to get paid the last Tues of the month but his company are going to pay him on the 25th of every month from Jan.
I wondered if we'd be able to ask to pay the company DFD on the 25th of Jan for Jans payment instead of the 1st. I don't want to fall into arrears but with both my parents living quite a long way from me and both very poorley right now, if I could use an extra amount of money before New year going up to see them then that'd be really helpful as can't usually afford to travel back and forth much due to fuel costs/accomodation etc and a usually very tight budget now. My parents are both in their 70's living in sheltered accommodation so I can't stay with them plus I have to take my two young children with me.
I've never missed or been late with a payment, I've been really strict with Xmas this year in fact this whole experience has taught me to be watchful of every penny I think I've probably spent an average of a fiver on anyone this year as it's all I can afford and even that's meant cutting back on the food bill!
We had our IVA agreed on the 3rd of August and I remember at that time we had to make a first payment within a certain number of days from the creditors meeting but couldn't leave it until the 1st September as that took us past the maximum number of days. We actually made our first payment before the creditors meeting on the 1st of August!
Just wondered if any of you have asked to change a payment date before and what kind of reaction I should expect. I don't want to upset the company as have been so much less stressed since we began the IVA despite the tight budget we manage and don't get the hassle we were having from creditors anymore which is a blessed relief.
Do you think it's worth the risk asking they may see it as a payment holiday, which i don't want it to be.
Thanks for your time and Happy Christmas to all on the forum!
