Knitters United!

Hi I couldn't find a thread for people who knit so I thought I'd make one, sorry if I've just missed it, feel free to merge it!

I have been knitting for years and have made lots of items for family members when they've had babies. I am thinking of making some baby hats and cardigans and having a stall some time but I wondered whether any of you have done the same and was it worth it? Do people like these items and buy them? I don't want to make them and then waste my time if they're not going to sell. What have your experiences been?x

    Hi

I know a couple of women that do craft fairs - hand knitting mainly for children and babies and they also take commissions, I don't know how much work they receive (as I rarely see them to ask) but they've been doing it for a number of years so I'm guessing they get enough to do.

These were the traditional baby outfits as well as very unusual ones. They also take on unfinished knitting, for those that give up on projects.

At a car boot sale one day right at the close of business I went up to a stall selling exquisite hand knitted baby outfits that had been put onto those lifesize baby dolls to sell. The lady told me that she hadn't sold a single one. But at the next car boot she might have sold all of them for all I know.

It probably would have been better if she'd offered some alternative choices for the customers.

I don't use them because the way I knit makes it hard to hold the needles. What are you making?
