    terms:

Facebook members will be able to vote for their favourite TOP DAD story when voting starts at 12.00 on 11 June and voting closes at 23.59 on 30 June 2011. So the earlier you submit your entry, the more time there is for voting.

One of the four TOP DAD stories with the most votes will be announced each day from 5 - 8 July 2011 with the story with the most votes revealed on 8 July 2011. The author of the TOP DAD story with the most votes will be allowed to choose which type of iPad 2 they would prefer to receive, then the author of the TOP DAD story with the second most votes will be allowed to choose which type of iPad 2 they would like to receive and so on until there is no further choice to be made.

Voting is restricted to one vote per story per person and systems are in place to monitor attempts at multiple voting. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify an entrant or votes that it believes at its sole discretion have been entered in excess of these limits.

Voting is restricted to registered Facebook users and to one vote per entry per user. Systems are in place to identify multiple voting or attempts to manipulate the vote and any such attempts could result in the voter or entrants being disqualified at the sole discretion of the Promoter
  • Looks like there's been a few changes to the terms and conditions - just received this from Prostate Action:

Thank you for entering our TOP DAD competition, we’ve really enjoyed reading the stories that have been posted. We have, however, recently received a number of complaints about how the competition is decided and that it is not an entirely fair system. In order to support the aims and objectives of the charity and keep the TOP DAD competition fair for all our supporters, we have made the following amendment:

This is the new point 7 of the competition rules
    7. The four winning TOP DAD stories will be announced each day from 5 - 8 July 2011 with the final story revealed on 8 July 2011. Winning stories will be selected by a panel of three judges consisting of Emma Malcolm, Chief Executive Prostate Action; Sandy Tyndale-Biscoe, Chairman of the Prostate Cancer Support Federation and Simon Denegri, Chief Executive of Ovarian Cancer Action. They will make their selection from all stories that have received 30 votes or more. The panel will rank the four winning stories in order of first, second, third and fourth TOP DAD story. The author of the first TOP DAD story will be allowed to choose which type of iPad 2 they would prefer to receive, then the author of the second TOP DAD story will be allowed to choose which type of iPad 2 they would like to receive and so on until there is no further choice to be made.

The objective of the campaign was always to generate true and honest stories about real dads and to raise awareness of prostate disease. One in two men will be affected by a prostate disease at some stage in their lives and even though prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with one man dying every hour, few people even know where the prostate is. We’re aiming to raise awareness among all men and their families, particularly dads, and the competition has already spread the word to thousands of people. Now we need to make sure that message goes even further by ensuring we have worthy winners of our first TOP DAD awards whose stories we hope to use in the press in the weeks after the campaign (as per the original terms and conditions) to raise more awareness, and ensure that more men are diagnosed earlier and that lives are saved.

We hope that you will agree that this is a fair way of judging the contest and will continue to support us in our fight to beat all prostate diseases.

Regards and good luck as you still have until midnight tomorrow to get up to 30 votes or more.

    Emma
