There was a story about Iams which went around a few years ago. It highlighted the fact that they tested on animals but it also highlighted the naiveity of some of its readers.
Of course pet foods are tested on animals. All of them. Would you really feel comfortable feeding your pet something that hadn't been tested before being cleared for sale?
For me the story had the opposite effect. I wanted to feed my pets something that I knew wouldn't harm them which meant something that I knew had been tested well. I fele sorry for Iams as they'd been singled out for doing what everybody else did so they got my business.
From the Trophy Pet Foods website:

We specially select the best ingredients available ensuring that they are nutritious, wholesome and palatable.

How can you tell if something is "palatable" without first testing it?

By the way, drugs for animals are tested on animals as well. Bear this in mind next time you go to the vet.

Thanks, the following quotes from that site are particuary disturbing about IAMS..

"• Dogs and cats confined to small, barren cages, some for up to six years
• Dogs’ vocal cords surgically cut out so that they couldn’t bark
• Workers’ reports of a live kitten who was washed down a drain
• Kennels that were extremely hot in the summer and near freezing in the winter
• Dogs being force-fed vegetable oil through tubes inserted down their throats"

I have a Focus store less than half a mile from me, and I was about to leave to go grab several boxes, however this site has changed my mind.

No problem, we used to have IAMs all the time, but never again.

We get this now for the cats
