MIniDisc System

My father-in-law is desperate to buy a minidisc hifi sytem that also has capability to be plugged into an MP3 player. I have searched and can't find such a system with most companies I have looked at saying that the minidisc players are now obsolete. He has a collection of music on minidisc and can't play them. Does anyone have any ideas where to look - not ebay if possible
Thanks

Likely to be Sony only these days - a few other companies (Sharp and Aiwa that I know of) have given them a try and dropped out.
Not that many mini systems seem to even have an auxiliary input (AUX) these days for the MP3.
Alternative would be "separates" (have a look at Richer Sounds) - MD deck, ampliifier, and speakers. Most stand-alone amplifiers have connections for tape decks, radio tuners, MP3s etc. More expensive but much better sound quality.0 -
Im afraid you wont find a minidisk player witha port for connecting an ipod or any other mp3 player but you will find sonyMD systems with aux connectors that will allowy you to connect a cable that can be connected to the headphone port of any portable audio device including mp3 players.
Denon used to make a fantastic MD system, but the format has died on its !!!! with mp3 taking over everything so much so I think sony have now decided to leave it. Your best option is to go to a sony shop and see what they have then come home and find it online for alot less.
MD is a brilliant format, I have a portable a seperate and one in the car. but even I have considered moving over to mp3 in the car. I have my 20GB sony mp3 player connected up to my amp aswell0
