Are in you in much of a chain?ceriloushoes wrote: »Not able to find the extra £4K. My parents are already helping me with the deposit. So frustrating as in the grand scheme of things, £4K doesn't seem that significant but it is if you can't lay your hands on it!
Just hoping the vendor will accept a lower offer. Or it's back to the drawing board.
You might find it easier for the agents to get £1k each of four vendors, than to get £4k off one!

The vendor is going to move in with family while they renovate the house they are buying. The house they are buying is vacant. I think an elderly couple owned it, but have moved out. So there's not much of a chain.
I'm going to make the agent work on this one as so far, they've done nothing.
Will keep you posted.

Will it ever end?
EA spoke to vendor and told me they were going to think about it and let me know. 10 minutes later EA phoned and said that the vendors were 'adamant' they wouldn't accept a penny less than the agreed price as that was the absolute minimum they would have accepted anyway (even though they didn't attempt to negotiate when I put in my original offer. In fact they nearly bit my hand off). So I told them I'd need to withdraw my offer.
Cue lots of sighing from the EA. Said he'd tried his best, etc.
10 minutes later, EA back on the phone telling me that the vendors were going to try to see if their vendor would accept a drop in asking price. The EA seemed desperate to know if I was still interested in the property!
So I'm waiting for the vendors to come back to me.
I need a drink!

Offer accepted. Over the moon.
Hopefully now, the Abbey will get a move on.

Don't forget to let the lender know of the reduction in price and mortgage amount.ceriloushoes wrote: »Offer accepted. Over the moon.

My mortgage advisor has informed the lender and is chasing them about getting the valuation done as we speak. I've informed my solicitor.
Full steam ahead.
