I often want to take something to parties but whenever I ask what people want me to bring they say 'just yourself and a bottle!' but then later say they wish they had asked people to bring something else but felt too proud - I say to hell with proud! if you are kind enough to invite people round for a party the least they can do is bring a tub of coleslaw or family size bag of doritos!! it is also helpful for in the morning when you take a peek in the kitchen and see how much food is left and its a slight consolation that at least you didn't buy all of it! (I hate to waste food)0

Newcook you are so right! Everytime I do party food I make far too much - the result is we bin loads and are eating partyfood for a week afterwards.
I am definatelt going to ask people to bring something this time.0 -
most people love potato wedges- just cut up some spuds, toss in oil with paprika, salt, pepper- or whatever you fancy- and roast for 30 mins or so- dead easy, proper tasty.
also homemade pizza- buy pizza base mix, put tomato puree on, then slices of mozarella and herbs, bake for 10/15 mins- job done. easy, cheap, tasty
hope you have a lovely night0 -
We have a party every New Year and never used to ask anyone to bring anything. Now we do a list, when people ask we say either bring a main dish or a desert. Last year was the best yet with someone bringing a whole dressed salmon, someone a lasange, other people deserts. We were eating good food for days! Everyone said they were so much happier to contribute too. Hope you enjoy your party!January budget
