*Cost of living increase and payrise*

Hi all.
My HR finally sorted my pay increase as I was off on maternity leave at the time, and they didn't know whether I was entitled to it. Turns out, I was right and they backdated it.
However, I have not received my cost of living increase, do I need to apply for this as well? Someone told me, maybe the pay increase and cost of living was lumped together, but I've just checked my letter and it definitely only states pay award.

You are not automatically entitled to an annual 'cost of living' or any other payrise unless it specifically says so in your contract.
As long as you are paid more than the NMW your employer is not obligated to keep upping your salary."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I searched through previous letters and found one while I was still on Mat leave in April, and I did in fact get the cost of living rise, that's why my pay was slightly higher when I returned.
The performance related pay I received back payment for was set against last years objectives which I made sure I completed before going on Mat leave!
Thanks again all."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0
