    There's nothing to suggest that at all. :)

    As the OP used to earn more, no doubt NI and tax was paid then. A contract isn't a legal requirement, and exists regardless.

    Sounds to me simply like they have misunderstood the link between NI and holiday with NI and sick pay or something. Probably an admin error, simply resolved. :)
