in Cutting tax
Can anyone tell me if you are paying off a student loan from your salary, is your taxable income the gross salary less personal allowance or is your student loan also deducted from gross salary before tax is calculated please.

the student loan is paid out of taxed income I'm afraid.. so your tax is based on gross salary
and in usual tax terminolgy 'taxable pay' means gross pay less pension (and any tax free expenses) even though the actual tax calculation then deducts the tax allowance.0
