Days off

Not sure where to post this but here will do for now :rolleyes:

I just want to know if anyone knows or they can give me the link from the info I need.

Where my girlfriend works the manager has trouble telling everyone what days off they have, they work longer days and only do 4 days a week.

So often they dont actually know untill maybe 2-3 days before the day what day off they have got. Is there any law stating that you should know your working hours and what days off you have a certain amount of time before???
Also to go with this she recently has been giving the same day off to people (I am guessing the ones she likes) some of them have been getting friday sat and sunday off every week where as the others get sat sun and a day off during the week.

As I work shifts it is important our time together even more so the fact that we want to buy a place to live this year.

She seems to be a rubbish manager, you know the type could not manage a good C**p without written instructions.....

I work a 4 day week and have visibilty of my days off for 12 months or longer. if my employer decides to make changes 13 weeks notice is required.

Is there some kind of Human Resources or Personnel Department where your girlfriend works? She should ask them what the company policy is on this. Even if they say it's at the manager's discretion, she can still request a meeting with her manager and voice her concerns. If she isn't happy with what her manager has to say, then she should approach her manager's manager. Tell her to keep a record of who has what days off so she can show evidence of her manager's unfairness.

Has she got a contract of employment, if so, what does it say in that?

your girlfriend should check her contract of employment to see if she has signed anything saying that this is ok. if she cant find her copy her mgr has to let her see the copy they have.

Is it a big company that your girlfriend works for or is it just a small one outlet type of spot? Check the contract and it may be worth contacting ACAS to see if they are able to advice

I will look at her contract sometime. it is a bigish company. when the place opened they worked 8hrs a day 5 days a week with weekends off. but due to being busier and staff problems they switched to longer days and an extra day off.
