Hi,i bought a candy floss make a while ago and want to make some for my sons birthday, the box has paper wands but i wanted proper wooden ones, not skewers. Was thinking these must be popular what with the novelty of chocolate fountains, what do they use to dip stuff into the chocolate? Thanks
And yes the lady in the avatar is me

How long ? I know Tescos do wooden kebab skewers which might do the trick if you snip the pointy bit off.One day I might be more organised...........

GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I had the same trouble getting hold of replacements and didn't want paper ones because they go soggy.
In the end, I bought a pack of cheap plastic chopsticks. Good length, no splinters or sharp edges and they are reuseable (providing you can get the kids to give them back

There is a shop called Fete and Fayre, in Carshalton, Surrey. They sell them, can't remember how much, but I know they were 'cheap as chips'. They do mail order. I'll find there details for you in the morning.0

How about getting some thin dowel rod, about 5mm should do the trick. The round profile means it is easier to twirl in the bowl.
For anyone who has never tried, wait to get a decent layer of floss in the bowl, then pick it up with the end of your stick, twirling it onto the stick, OUT of the bowl. That is your starter, then start twirling the stick slowly between your fingers while moving the stick around the bowl in quite large movements.
This time of year you may find the floss quite sticky. You or the machine are not faulty, I used to find if the weather was damp, it used to be a hard job getting the floss into the bag at the beach cafe I used to work at.
If you fancy coloured floss, try getting powdered food colouring and mixing it in with the sugar, Failing that you could try adding liquid food colouring in VERY small quantities, so as not to dissolve the sugar.0 -
how about 'borrowing' some coffee stirrers from Starbucks/Costa and using them? Its also money saving....Keeley x0
