Have you checked that all three of the credit reference agencies hold the correct information about you? (different banks etc use different ones)

Perhapse try getting a SIM only phone contract and pay by DD every month - I know O2 updated this on my credit file when I had a simplicity (SIM only) contract with them.

have you only just fully paid off all your debts, then it might be worthwhile waiting a few months before applying for anything else credit wise.

Can anyone confirm that DD payments have a positive effect on the credit file? I would of thought not. DD a great way not to miss or be late for a payment but surely no other benefits over someone that pays manually each month and on time.

You are correct DDs are no different to manual payments (assuming made on time) in terms of your credit file.
