spending nectar points

I'm hoping this is in the right section. I don't collect points on groceries so I'm not really used to having lots to spend; I'm not really familiar with nectar.
Is there a better way to spend them? I've looked on the nectar site and it seems they're worth a standard amount; 500 = £2.50.
Am I missing something? I don't want to spend them and then realise it's a bit like Tesco: some deals are better than others.
Hopefully this isn't discussed elsewhere: I did search.

I always forget about redeeming them at Sainsburys, don't know why! Although in the early days of the scheme we used to spend a years worth of points on Christmas booze, food and some presents, too.
These days I generally redeem them for Amazon vouchers or spend them at Argos and use them maybe once or twice a year against a large purchase; we'd saved up £200 which made a nice big dent against the cost of our new laptop.0 -
Thanks JAG it sounds as though it may be worth hanging on and seeing if an offer crops up.0

We have just bought a Microwave with ours in Argos. Paid 350 worth in nectar points, and the remaining £30 in cash.0
