Remorgage with criminal record

Does having a criminal record affect being able to get a mortgage?
Its not me by the way but my ex - I'm still on the mortgage and deeds but don't pay it or live in the house!!
Ex wants to remortgage but I do not want to put my name on any other paperwork other than what there is already - mortgage lender will not allow me off it yet as in slight negative equity and also mortgage multiples!!
Fixed rate doesn't run out until 2013 anyway and will revert to SVR - I won't be changing it then either - I want off as soon as possible!! But I'm concerned that if he applies to change it and the mortgage company get funny about his record (after I left him) we are both screwed!!

So far as your existing mortgage and product are concerned, it won't matter (unless the criminal conviction has something to do with your mortgage - eg obtaining money by deception from your current lender). So, even if your existing lender is bothered by the conviction, you'll still be able to move onto SVR.
As to other lenders, it depends very much on what the conviction is. If it's for speeding, nobody cares. If it's for defrauding a credit card company / another mortgage lender, they'll care a great deal.0 -
No not fraud or money related, assault and harrassment!!
And as I'm not going to be signing anything for a new mortgage hopefully wont be a problem!!?0
