Laptop up to £1000

Hi all,
I'm looking for a good laptop and am willing to pay upto £1000. I'd like it to be reliable, a good/respected brand and from a reputable retailer with good customer service and guarantee.
To be honest, I mainly want it for the 'basics' like internet browsing, watching DVDs and MS Office so my budget may be a bit excessive, but ultimately I'm after value for movey with the specifications mentioned above. If I can get a good Laptop for less that £1000 (maybe around the £700-800 mark I'd consider it).
Can anyone help me with good recommendations?
Thanks.

Like the man said, there are loads to choose from. This is receiving a bit of attention at the moment, http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=328350
It would appear to be good V.F.M. I am not a techy so cannot comment on the spec but others believe it to be quite respectable. I like the idea of a 3 year warranty though, I suppose the downside is that in 3 years time laptops will be the size of dinner plates, the weight of beermats and run on solar power !0 -

In order to verify your claim and comply with the Honey Laundering Regulations, original documents from a list which contains your passport, driving license, shotgun license, voters registration card (if a resident of N. Ireland) recent utility bill and panties (photocopies not acceptable) must be supplied.
Better to be p*ssed up than p*ssed off.0 -
