Taxi in Dublin

My father has to go to Merrion Road in Dublin. I have offered to drive him, but he insists on going by train. Now he will get free train travel as he is a pensioner, but he plans to take a taxi from Connolly St Station to Merrion Road. I have had a look at google maps and its only about 4 miles away - Anyone any idea how expensive taxis in Dublin are?

He will get free travel on dublin transport system by showing his pass

Looks to me as if he could also get the DART to Sandymount, Sydney Parade or Booterstown stations (depending on which part of Merrion Road) and maybe walk from there. (A train ticket would normally only allow him to travel to Tara Street, but as the poster above says, a pass will allow him free travel anywhere).
