The new loan I was offered was just to replace the existing loan I had, Which was originally over 8 years. Not to touch the credit card debt.
.
To be perfectly honest I never even checked the APR when I took it out, I just went to my 'friendly' local bank.
Oh the shame
My existing loan is £323 a month with 57 payments left.
The new one would be £325 ( with insurance bought elsewhere ) over 48 months.
This seemed ok to me. Lightbulb Moment: December 2006

I would also reduce the credit limits on your debts there
Eg, I would take barclaycard to 2200 if they will do that and 4800 on your lloyds card.
this will mean that your credit rating will look good :A as you are settling some debt
I never even thought about that at all.
Thank you:idea: Lightbulb Moment: December 2006

Are your credit cards at 0%? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
To be honest, I don't usually agree with taking out extra loans/consolidating etc but if its a similar payment and a shorter period of time then your debt free date will be much closer within reach and I would probably go for it. Not convinced by the need for insurance though (and I work in the industry!!!) as PPI is usually an expensive waste of money...............

My credit cards are at 16% each as far as I am aware.
Ive tried getting o% or cards with low % for LOB but I just get refused.
Ive only recently moved house (out of necessity) and have no home phone, maybe this isnt helping either. Lightbulb Moment: December 2006

OK, well if you get refused the chances are yes moving might have something to do with it ( are you on the electoral roll, that makes a difference, if not get registered!)
Also you pay be over debted, so reducing your credit limits on the cards you do have shoud help.
Leave it a few months tho before applying again

Back to the mobile and Internet. You pay £70 for both, that is a lot of money. If you can switch tarrifs you should do. Better still if you are out of contract switch to Orange, or another provider which provides free internet. I pay £35 to Orange for a 550 'anytime' minutes, unlimited SMS and I get my 2Mb Broadband internet free. You have to go some to use all the minutes on that tarrif!!
Hope this helps.0 -
Also, ebay anything you can (I'm sure you have unearthed all sorts during your move!)
Join Pigsback (thread in Freebies board) for vouchers, I'd suggest getting Boots so you can buy your essentials (shampoo/toothpaste/deo or gifts etc). If it's free it's money saved
