I can't really answer this because I'm doing my own... but the local butchers that MrD's family all use for big occasions charges:

£4.95 per head +VAT for a Light Buffet - A selection of six choices. Including sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pie, plum bread and scones.

£6.95 per head +VAT for a Party Buffet - A selection of 11 choices. Including marinated meats sandwiches, pies, dips, pizza, plum bread and scones Additional items available from the list on the buffet menu, individually priced.

and £14.95 per head +Vat for a Special Fayre - Including cold Roast Ham and Roast Beef, salads, quiche, bread rolls and two desserts.

I'm getting married at a pub with a large function room and the room hire is free as we are having a buffet there too. For a cold buffet it was £6 per head, and a hot buffet it is £7.50 per head.

They've been really helpful and said they will put a couple of desserts and put out a little sweetie table for the kids to enjoy. Thats all included in the price as well.

I thought the prices were really good. Am looking forward to it all now - only 6 weeks to wait!!

I'm in a slightly different position to most. :) (lol I would have to be awkward)
We're getting married on a Tuesday just us and our immediate family.
Then on the Saturday at 5pm we're having our reception at our house - and it's here that I'm going to be doing our buffet. I will be at work on the Wednesday, but then I've got Thursday and Friday off work to begin preparing everything (including all the decorations). Anything that'll take the pressure off on the Saturday.
Plus there will only be 53 of us at most, assuming everyone turns up.

I'm just going to be doing usual buffet food:
Ham & Tomatoes Sandwiches, Turkey & Salad Sandwiches, tuna mayo & cucumber sandwiches, Cheese & Pickle sandwiches, coleslaw, potato salad, pasta salad, couscous salad, pork pie, party sausage rolls, vegetable spring rolls, cocktail sausages, quiche, scotcheggs, Chicken nuggets, and Salad.
The last time I ran it all through Tescos online to check my budget it came to around £1.50 per person.
