will you budget for next year and when will you start doing it?
sorry for questions, we are going to try our hardest to budget for next year, so looking for ideas.
what do you spend on per person, eg for parents, nieces, nephews etc, and what do you spend on husbands/wives and kids0 -
That is what I'm looking forward to if I go onto the DMP - actually being able to put money to one side for these things as opposed to throwing everything at the cards all year and then having to add to the debt to buy next to nothing.
Well done with the ciggies by the way - that's a big chunk towards the Christmas fund!January '06 Grocery Challenge (4th - 31st) £320.Week 1 - £73.99 Week 2 £5.10 (so far
)
Someone burst my bubble and I lost the plot so no idea what I spent now...Other Jan :- Petrol £20.41, Clothes £8.50, House £3.
I will try to work it out.

thanks Kaz, so you are def going on the dmp, which company are you going with?
we start our dmp with cccs soon, we will send token payments in feb, seems forever away. we still have to change bank accounts, which we will be sorting out on tuesday, hubby is going joint with my account if they allow it and then hubbys wage will be put in the account end of jan, thats the only thing that is holding everything up.
has for me not smoking well its not taking money out of the account and buying fags on the overdraft, which makes me feel good.0 -
We haven't got any credit cards to put anything on to as they've all been cut up into millions of pieces and been binned! We had a budget christmas really.... £30 each for me and dh... max £10 for our close friends/family.. our little girl had the most as we spent £70 on her but we've been buying her presents since August so they've not made that big an impact, plus she's got tonnes for that £70 so had done well in retrospect. But it's our last year with just the 3 of us as our 2nd baby is due in Jan so we're spoiling her while we can afford to.... lol

wow congrats wont be long for the new baby to arrive.
we have got credit cards, i know bad mistake, but we arent using them, we are going to cut them up, but this year, we havent even said "just put it on the credit card" has we both know that it will get us more into debt which we certainly dont want.
where do you buy your little girls presents from? we went to toyrus and 3 things cost over £1000 -
Hi In trouble
I read your other thread and well done with the smoking.
Looking at the figures you've quoted for presents in the past does it looking shocking to you now? I was taken aback! I've only ever spent around £15 on my family and I earn quite a good salary. I cant imagine spending that much ever0 -
thank you for your post Melaniec, we must be mugs spending that much on each member of the family, £15 does sound a reasonable amount, that is what they are getting this year.
thanks for the well done wishes on not smoking, its been tough0 -

Uh let me think.. this is what she's got..
Teletubbies aquadraw - £20 using £5 off code on ebay.
A play kitchen and trollley - £5 online (normally £19.99) (Can't remember the website though..)
Play food for her kitchen - £3 from Instore
Funky footprints mat (Early learning centre toy) - £6 inc postage off ebay.
Disney princess puzzle - £0 (given to us by a friend as bought the wrong one for someone.)
4 books - Total £12 from 'The book people' who go round nurseries etc. (The hungry caterpillar, dear zoo, there was an old lady who swallowed a fly, and ketchup on your cornflakes)
Wooden alphabet blocks - £1 from tesco
Colouring book - 19p in the reduced basket of our local co-op.
I'm not sure if I've missed anything, but from the looks of it I didn't even spend £50. She's got tonnes of presents from friends and relatives (ahem sorry Santa... ) still to come as well!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
