If you are unemployed have you looked to see if there are any grants available?
In Wales, REACT (if I remember the name correctly) paid for my OH to do HGV when he was out of work. Just a thought.

  • Sorry to dissappoint but your chances of a loan are very slim indeed.

If you have managed to get your credit files cleaned up since March, you may get accepted for a Vanquis or Cap 1 credit card - but the limit for each would be around £200. The cash advance interest would also be ridiculously high!

As mentioned, look into grants etc. You could begin by asking at the Jobcentre or places that offer careers advice - as they may be able to point you in the right direction. Also worth doing Google searches as you never know what you may discover.

Sorry I could not be more help and best of luck!

Hmm Vanquis currently around 49% apr for cash advances...ouch

maybe try putting alittle away yourself & look at a credit union load maybe.

Yes I agree, it's an extionate rate!!

Vanquis or similar cards should always be paid off in full and only used to rebuild credit history.

I was just stating a hypothetical situation and was trying to highlight that any regular lender is not a viable option for the OP. :)

Definitely contact your Job Centre advisor if you are unemployed as they may well have schemes available in your area to help you retrain.
