Sainsbury's Bank (Card Services)

Options
I have been a Customer of Sainsburys Bank for many years having their Credit Cards also recently completed a Large personal Loan.

My accounts have always been paid for correctly on the required dates and without fail, last year they decided to decrease my credit limit through no good reason on one of my cards, then today i received notice that they are decreasing the other card s credit limit.

If they had any good reason to treat their me in this manner then i would simply accept this as "Good Debt Management Practice" however all my accounts have been conducted in an exemplary manner.

So Sainsburys Bank you will be losing one of your Most Loyal Customers, which you may consider to be "Small Fry" but be advised that there are far too many Credit Providers out there for you to think you are Invincible, what's more I quite naturally view your actions as Corporate and as such will also be withdrawing my custom from Sainsburys Stores as well.

I have complained to Sainsburys previously about this and their response was for me to go grovelling to them to request a Credit Increase, to which i reply "Go Forth and Multiply"

  • Hi,

In reply, yes i have kept my borrowing down to a level which is affordable, i may well have been penalised because of this but then that would make Sainsbury's Bank (Card Services) hypocrites, as they informed me it was in line with their "Commitment to responsible financial lending".

Of course there is another factor that i had not considered and that is my latest Birthday, but then that would make them Ageist!!

    Thanks for your reply.

Had a somewhat similar problem with their credit card myself recently.
I'd had a laptop on 10 months interest free that was coming to an end so decided to take advantage of their 0% interest credit card to pay off the remainder.

Despite filling in all the mandates they failed to set up the direct debit we had asked for so the payment wasn't paid. Complained heavily to them as they charged us for it! Got absoloubtly nowhere and they decreased the credit limit to boot. After more moaning they finally increased the limit back to what it was and lowered the charge to £12.

A week later we received another DD mandate.....with the names wrong.
Keeps you on your toes if nothing else lol.
