How very frustrating!

Not sure if this helps but on the website, there is a 'contact us' link at the bottom which comes up with an online form. I clicked this, and used it to explain that UK was not on the drop down so please can I have a free sample.

I will wait and see whether I get one

Thanks to the OP and to unoriginal_uk for the suggestion about the contact form, I filled it out (curiously enough the UK was present in the dropdown country list for the contact form) and asked them if they would send me a sample if they are making them available to UK customers.
