    OK, so you're saying we (meaning mankind) burn more carbon to support a person in the UK, that we would do in say, Africa?
    If that's a fair summation, I see your reasoning, thanks.

    Although I wouldn't say there is as much carbon difference between a person born in say, Poland, and then migrating to the UK for work. I note you caveat your point by saying a flow from low-carbon to high-carbon economies. Do you have any sources to show how much of this type of "carbon-harmful" migration is the case for immigration into the UK? (I only ask because the OP is focused on the UK and you went on to imply that immigration should be focused on, possibly ahead of reducing travel on our roads).

    Also, migration does of course flow both ways (admittedly not always in equal volumes though).
