HFO Services

Hi there, I have just received a letter of debt from HFO Services. This debt was over a credit card that was stolen years ago. I disputed the debt with the bank and was refused any help, so being at a very young age, I thought I only had one option which was to ask them for a repayment plan, where I started to pay off the debt. I then went overseas for a couple of years and continued paying off my repayment plan with the bank. Upon returning form overseas the debt was at only £200 remaining and I spoke to the bank saying I had no more money and didn't feel I should continue paying for this. I was informed the debt would be quashed and was thanked for my co operation. Now, 7 years later, and having been overseas again but been back for 2 years have now been sent a letter informing me I need to pay 5 times the amount that was "quashed". I don't know what to do, and have worked really hard to get my credit score back to a good one. Does anyone have any advice?

This debt is almost certainly statute barred, They can ask nicely if you would really really like to pay. And you can say no and they are required to stop all collection action. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Louise,
There are several threads on this board about HFO services, it may be an idea to read hrough some of them to give you an idea of how to handle them. There is a letter somewhere on this site asking them to Prove that the debt is yours (search Prove It). May be worth sending it
