It is a personal bugbear of mine when people enter ticket competitions and sell on their wins. Promotors don't like it, and people always kick off when they get found out. You are selling somehting you don't have the rights to sell!

I knew of a comper who regularly did this. He had won some tickets to a big international rugby match, and managed to sell them for about £500 on eBay. The promotors were cannily checking eBay, and having seen his tickets for sale, promptly cancelled them. He was not a happy chappy!
Best wins: Luxury weekend in Russia, family holiday to France, catered BBQ for 20, Selfridges shopping spree, jolly to Majorca, £1,000 See Tickets vouchers, £500 John Lewis vouchers, five-star weekend in Provence!

Dont understand why you are moaning, you have been given another prize for something you was not gonna use. Be grateful for what you get.
You was only gonna sell them on. If I win tickets and cant go I normally give them away as they where FREE

..im not complaining anymore, ive been given an alternative prize, i'm very grateful actually..
Not so bothered with what other people do with their tickets, I chose to sell mine, im a student so could do with the money :j
The tickets that i won were going to be used by the people that bought them, they are very dissapointed they can't go, and I have since refunded their money..don't really understand why people are shoving their views onto what they should do with their win onto me really, its a bit weird.

the point is, to the winners of this comeptition who have yet to redeem their tickets, they can't go anymore because someone has posted YOUR winning code onto a forum and people have used the code over and over to obtaiin 6 for themselves, and yes they will probably be selling them on shock horror.. :o:o:o

also I've wanted to go to glade, but have won tickets to get loaded in the park which im going to instead. i enter competitions that i want to go to. if no one has anything constructive to say about the winners of this competition and where they should go from here if they cant get their tickets, then don't say anything yeah..im interested in the other winners and am here to help if you need any advice on it.. cheers

oh im so sorry to hear! its a massive mistake on their behalf, they should cancel all those tickets and just restart or something, but i guess its too close to the event to sort the problem out.. theres a rumour on the other forum that people with those tickets may have trouble getting in or may not get in at all, :s
but i bet you'll win something super big though to make up for it soon, i sure hope so!

I have won plenty of tickets before which i have given away to people on MSE (most recently two days ago) and to friends on facebook and also to family.

It was my choice to give them away and not sell them....as i feel with tickets its so nice to make somebody else's day rather than profit from them.

BUT and thats a big but in capitals...can i just say that if i were to win say a 32" television and id already got said televisions in all rooms in my home that required them then i would have every right in the world to have entered that competition and to have sold the tv.

The tickets i have given away before i had genuinly wanted to attend but as some promotors dont let you know until two days before the event i have been unable to make arrangements for childcare, travel etc....hence giving them to someone who would really benefit.

Jurys always out with selling on wins i think - maybe rather than posting on here that you have and being "told off" perhaps keep it between you and bank account :) xxx

There has been a lot of ticket giveaways recently from what I suspect is people just entering comps for the sake of it and not actually looking at the dates/location.

Maybe the case, but then, may not be too.

People do have to change their plans sometimes. I won tickets to see the wrestling but couldn't go because my OH couldn't get the time off work, so I gave them to my sister & her OH and they were over the moon.

Most tickets have a face value of 0 so can't be sold anyway. Some people don't realise that ;)
    Thanks to all posters :A

haha thats true, I've won some tickets that i couldnt go to and gave them away to a friends before or i forfeit them but this was honestly the first (and last) time i've tried to sell them. i guess with winning tickets its not garanteed that you'll actually get the tickets as to do with anything you've won... Just felt so bad letting the people that bought the tickets down but yes guess you shouldn't try to sell them! lesson learned!

Its actually illegal to resell tickets above the face value which will be ZERO on free tickets
I have an email to prove this and if people are found selling tickets they can be cancelled and no refund given even if you have paid for them
