Wicker Basket for Father's Day Gift

Hi there

My dad has been absolutely amazing this year after I was diagnosed with diabetes and I wanted to make him an extra special basket for Father's Day.

I've been putting together some stuff and would like a cheap basket for it - I googled it earlier and some older posts came up saying Wilkos and Ikea had some but those threads were from a while ago and I've searched both and can't find anything particularly cheap. Ideally Im looking for a more shallow basket but am not too fussy.

Anyway, thought someone one here might be able to help!

Thanks

Sharky

I have been looking too for suitable baskets to make a hamper. I came across this site www.candigifts.co.uk . They appear to have a good selection at reasonable prices, but I as yet havent bought anything so cant say much in regards to their delivery/packing and general customer care. However im prepared to buy from them myself in the next week or two (it's not a hamper for fathers day, hence why I have found the site but not ordered yet).

Im sure others will beable to offer ideas though that may be of more help to you :)

What sort of things will you be putting in the basket (to get an idea of size) Is it a themed pressie like gardening or something?

Long shot but, you might find something in a Charity Shop. Also, Garden Centres are a good place for baskets and containers.

Hi there thanks for the replies.

I looked at Candigifts because the prices are great but I think they are wholesalers so am not sure if it is possible to buy directly from them. They have a link on their site to retailers that sell their products and there is a big markup.

Im mainly putting chocolate and alcohol in the basket lol - my dad is quite hard to buy for. So i have one of the Fathers Day toblerones and was going to get some gran marnier and/or baileys and then a few other bits and bobs. Garden centre is a great idea though, thank you. I was also going to try charity shops but they close before i get back from work although I will check it out on the weekend.

    Thanks again :)
  • I once did this as presents and I got my baskets from Dunelm all different sizes and reasonably priced.

dunelm can have some great bargains

i saw some baskets at jysk once that would have been ideal.

also b&m home bargains, even if they have things in them are cheap and can reuse them

If you can't find a basket what about a box - you can get them in Card shops.

Also, does he like differant cheeses? They go well in a Hamper.
What about a book or crosswords / puzzle books etc?

    Hi,
i found cheapwickerbaskets dot co dot uk (not allowed to post links) for christmas and thought they seem reasonable for some sizes/styles but because they were cheaper i used dunelm mill.

however as an alternative for some people i used hanging baskets or garden pots because there cheap and at least i knew people would use them afterwards. i always hate the thought of spending money on the basket for them never to be used again. These hampers i made weren't garden themed but it didn't matter they still looked good and the basket pot just added to the pressie.

    xx
