Northern Rock Or ????????????

Was think about applying to NR for a loan of £22000 over 10 years.

This will be to consolidate all my debt into one loan ie pay off all cc etc and close them down. The reason i pick NR is that i can make repayments over 10 years. I would prefer to do it without PPI but i think i will need to take the employment cover to get the loan.

I have a good credit rating but my CC show i owe out a lot. I am on electoral roll and have stayed in my house for nearly 4 years. I earn around 30k and have maybe been late with a couple of cc pyts over the past year or so.

What i need to know has anyone had dealings with NR or maybe some loan specialists who could tell me what the chnces are off getting this loan. Also is there anywhere alse that does unsecured loans for this amount over 10 or more years?

One other option might be Abbey over 8 years without PPI.

many thanks

  • Abbey are quite strict. normally unsecured loans are over 7 years which was what we where told when we got our lloyds one 3 years ago.

I looked at their web site and it states £1000 - £25000 spread over 1-8 years.

I got an NR loan for 20k 10yrs no problem(with minimumppi)..BUT it wasnt the answer to my problems...now its all worse than before.

For god sake if you get it close close close all those CC's.
  • Hi

I recently got a loan for £17k over 10 years - Rate of 5.9% and I am pretty sure overpayments can be made.

So far so good with it. Don't think you will get a better rate for that length of loan to be honest.

Don't get into more debt if you are overstretched.

Remember the PPI is for your benefit - not northern rocks - at the end of the day this is an unsecured loan.

Apply - go for the gold cover then cancel the ppi within 14 days.

If you really want ppi go direct to an insurance broker and save yourself 75% of the premium by buying direct.
